10 curiosities about the Rolling Stones to warm up engines
Tonight the Rolling Stones will play in the Barcelona Olympic Stadium in a only concert in Spain within his Stones-No Filter European tour. It is the sixth time that Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ron Wood play in the Catalan capital. The first was in 1977 and they returned in 1990, 1998, 2003 and 2007. Tickets are totally sold out so for those of us who are left without seeing their satanic majesties, we will always have to listen to them at full volume while we review 10 curiosities of their career that they cannot be ignored.
1. The name
The Rolling Stones are named for the eponymous song by Muddy Waters. The expression comes from a Latin proverb that says that “the stones that roll do not catch moss”.

2. Love-hate friendships
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards met when they were only 5 years old, although they say that during their childhood they were not really friends. After school they lost contact completely until in 1960 they met again at a train station. This coincidence was the one that triggered that the band was born later. Over the years they have always had a love-hate relationship, like the one that two brothers might have.

3. What inspired your logo

His mythical lip and tongue logo is a pop icon and the most famous design in music history. It was devised by designer Ernie Cefalu in 1971 inspired by the lips of Mick Jagger but was finally drawn by John Pasche. The band included him for the first time on the album. Sticky Fingers.
4. Designs by Andy Warhol
The cover of the Sticky Fingers it was designed by artist Andy Warhol. That is why for a long time it was thought that the language was also his work. The cover was censored in Spain and was replaced by fingers that came out of a can of jam. Another of his covers designed by Warhol was that of Love you Live, Besides of Some Girls, in which Warhol material was also used.

But they were not only censored in Spain. In one of the group’s presentations on the famous Ed Sullivan Show they had to change the name of one of their songs. So that the Let’s Spend The Night Together happened to be Let’s Spend Some Time Together.

6. Change of leader
Brian Jones was a founding member of the Rolling Stones alongside Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. During the first years he was the leader of the band and main instrumentalist but he was fired from the group after several frictions with his colleagues, especially with Keith Richards for being related to his ex-partner Anita Pallenberg. A month later they found him dead in his pool and since then he has been part of the famous Club de los 27.

7. Relationship with the Beatles
The war between the Beatles and the Stones is false. They actually got along and even promoted each other. So they only competed in record stores. Actually Mick Jagger did a chorus on the Beatles song Baby you’re a Richman, and Paul McCartney and John Lennon returned the favor on the matter We Love You.

8. Heterogeneous group
There was also a group made up of members of the Rolling Stones and the Beatles that they called The Dirty Mac and that only played at the Rock And Roll Circus concert. It was made up of John Lennon, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Mitch Mitchell (of The Jimi Hendrix Experience) and Yoko Ono.

9. Conflict with Hell’s Angels
In 1965, during a music festival where the Rolling Stones were performing, a young woman was murdered by members of Hell’s Angels, whom the band had hired as security. Jagger did not hesitate to point out the guilt of the band and they wanted to retaliate. The bikers attempted to end his life in revenge, attacking his Long Island residence with a speedboat.

10. Cartoon heroes
During the 60s the Rolling Stones were already caricatured in some comics. But it was not until 1995 that Marvel released an official comic of the group, with drawings by the famous and renowned illustrator Dave McKean.
